Catholic Heart Workcamp to Twin Cities, MN – June 10-16, 2012
August 3, 2011
You might remember (or had heard) that in 2010 we went on a mission trip to Toledo, Ohio for Catholic Heart Workcamp and we had an AMAZING experience!
We’re planning another Mission Trip Adventure — for June 10-16, 2012. We’ll be travelling to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It’s a week of service that will be life changing! Catholic Heart Workcamp has been coordinating these mission trips for many years. It’s a fantastic experience.
Look beyond the lakes, scenic shores, beautiful beaches, and groomed walking paths of the Twin Cities, and you will find a growing number of people who struggle with poverty, homelessness, and hunger.
Keysis will join over 300 teens to surround the Twin Cities community with the love of Christ, through daycare center work; at the homes of elderly, disadvantaged or disabled residents on revitalization, home beautification, and repair / rehab projects; and homeless shelter help. Whatever the Lord has in store for you will be an INCREDIBLE uplifting time, making new friends, and learning what living the Gospel really means!
The cost is $310.00, and includes meals and accommodations. Motor coach transportation is additional, but should be approximately $75. The cost of our “free day” activity will also be additional. We will be doing fundraising activities to offset the cost of this mission trip.
Check out http://heartworkcamp.com ~ it will change your outlook and your life!
The info on the Twin Cities 2011 work camp is available at the following Web address (info for next year should be available soon):

We’ll be travelling again with the youth group from St. Columcille in Sullivan, IL. The Twin Cities site fills up extremely fast. So we need to know who wants to go ASAP! Send me an email and let me know and I’ll put you on the list.
IMPORTANT: If you want to attend, please turn in your $75 deposit as soon as possible to reserve your place. Deadline is August 31.
Think about this. Pray about this. And let us know very soon.
God bless you!

Wanna Go? Keysis Weekend in St. Louis, July 16/17
June 20, 2011
We are planning a Keysis Weekend Trip to St. Louis for July 16/17. We’ll be staying at a hotel Saturday night. (Several are being considered, but we need to know how large our group will be.) Here’s the tentative schedule so you’ll know what to expect.
The cost for the trip will be $50 per person. We’ll be driving in cars/mini vans to St. Louis. Depending upon the number of teens who go, we may need some parents to join us and chaperone.
We would leave on Saturday morning around 9 a.m. from St. Thomas Church. When we arrive in St. Louis we will have lunch on the grass under the Gateway Arch. Then, we’d go and check in at our hotel. Four teens of the same gender will share a room. The teen rooms and adult rooms will be nearby on the same floor in the hotel. The hotel has a pool. In the afternoon we will visit the City Museum downtown. The nonprofit group rate in advance is only $6 per person.
For supper, we’ll return to the hotel and have a cookout on the patio. The hotel provides grills for our use. We can also use the pool at that time and just hang out for awhile. On Sunday morning, we will enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel and then get ready for10 a.m. Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica.
After Mass we’ll return to the hotel and change clothes and check out. We’ll have lunch in Forest Park and then spend the afternoon at the St. Louis Zoo. We’ll plan to leave for home around 3 or 4 and arrive in Decatur around 6 p.m.
Well, how does that sound? Are you interested? Respond to the Facebook invite or this email ASAP so we’ll know if the trip is on!
Corpus Christi Procession, 3 p.m., June 26
June 20, 2011
Keysis will participate in the Corpus Christi Service at St. Patrick Church and Procession on Sunday, June 26 from 3-4:30 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for Catholics from more than 22 parishes in Decatur and the surrounding area to gather together to pray, to honor Jesus in the Eucharist, and to celebrate our common faith.
Bishop Paprocki will lead the service in the church at 3 p.m.; then we will walk two blocks to Dansig Park for Solemn Benediction at 4 p.m. Please join us for this special celebration of that which is core to our faith.
Keysis has been asked to carry the canopy that is held over the Blessed Sacrament during the Corpus Christi procession. We will attend the Liturgy at 3 pm at St. Patrick Church and walk in the procession to Central Park.
